Blog assignment #2

Ah here we are building things in a vitrual world. I must say things have been a bit tough as you can most likely see by the many postings of my tests , it’s kinda funny. I did the Ivory Tower walkthrough and thought it was pretty good, but myself not being the best reader in the world I found the best thing to be the walkthrough that is on youtube. I still think in some parts it moves way to quick. I would really love to crate a very slow moving walkthrough one of these days but that will not be for a while.

There are many ways to edit, create, rotate and move your prims aka priminitive, these are the “building blocks that shape second life. There is great news any one of us can create them so that makes it nice. Now down to the basics you can move an object by holding down the different color arrows and moving them with the dirrection it says to. You can also rotate any object that you create by holding down the (control) button. There are different colors for different dirrections, just give it a shot and you will learn.

The biggest thing by far is the ability to change the size and duplicate your blocks. To change the size of it all all you have to do is hold crtl+shift and then there are different color blocks that appear (notice a trend yet on this? I hope so, those colors are so very important they are dirrections!) and you can change the thickness, long or short it is. You can also duplicate you block by hold crtl+ d that way if you want to make another block (such as stairs) and don’t want to do it all over again that’s a great way.

You can also link these blocks by by hitting crtl + L and you can to the above mentioned by hitting crtl+D and really start creating your little block of heaven so to speak.

These are just some of the basic functions to do. I will post a bit more on this later as I am still trying to figure out everything. I feel a lot better now that my blodhud is working. It took a while and all it was is a button not clicked, but I guess that’s code for you. Once you get all of these setup it’s very easy to work with.

I will put more in due time but for now I will take what I know and try to go a bit further.
